Animal Grantmakers 2022 Conference

October 23 – 26, 2022
Residence Inn
Berkeley, California

Program

Animal Grantmakers is the nation’s only funder affinity group focused on protecting and enabling the well-being of all animals. Together, we envision a safer and kinder world for animals—and a better and more sustainable future for us all. Join us in the beautiful Bay Area of Northern California as we gather with peer funders, grantees and other experts in the field, and leaders of animal and environmental protection organizations in the region to strengthen our collective impact.

This unparalleled conference will feature:

Rich presentations and discussions with leading experts on a wide range of animals and animal issues, with a focus on Animal Sentience
In partnership with Farmed Animal Funders, sessions on ending factory farming and other topics of mutual interest
Opportunities throughout to connect and collaborate with dozens of other animal funders
Discussions about how funders can advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in our work
Dynamic formats, including keynotes, film clips, panel discussions, workshops, receptions, a gala dinner and other meals, and a series of TED Talk-style presentations

Field trips to a marine mammal center (includes a nature hike in the Marin Headlands) and four local organizations serving companion animals

Location, Hotel Booking & Travel

The San Francisco Bay Area, the site of our 23rd annual gathering, is one of the world’s most beautiful and dynamic places. The Bay Area features everything from serene ocean beaches and waterfront towns to diverse, vibrant neighborhoods and cities; from Victorian architecture to modern arts and culture; from tech innovations in Silicon Valley to award-winning vineyards in Wine Country; from world-class colleges and universities to the stunning outdoors—mountains, woods, redwood groves, islands, and national, state and local parks. The Bay Area is also an animal lovers’ paradise, home to highly respected animal welfare and rescue organizations, and wildlife sanctuaries. It’s one of the most vegan-friendly cities in the country, with cutting-edge businesses developing plant-based foods.

The conference will be held at the Residence Inn in Berkeley, California—a brand-new hotel in downtown Berkeley, right next to the University of California, Berkeley campus. Book online or call 888-236-2427 and ask for the Animal Grantmakers 2022 Conference room block to get the special group rate of $254 (plus taxes) per night for a standard guest room.

Room block closes on Friday, September 30, 2022.

The Residence Inn is accessible by car, ride-sharing services and bus from all three of the Bay Area’s major international airports—Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose. There are several BART stations close to the Residence Inn; in fact, the Downtown Berkeley Station is just a block away from the hotel.

Health & Safety Protocols

Animal Grantmakers is committed to the health and safety of all who attend our conference. We take the ongoing and evolving risks of COVID-19 transmission and infection seriously. Current public health guidance indicates that with proper protocols in place, we can gather safely in person in October. However, we will closely monitor conditions around COVID-19 and in-person gatherings, adhere to local, state, and federal requirements, and make changes as necessary and appropriate. Please continue to check this site for updates.
